Subj : RE: Islam To : NuSkooler From : apam Date : Thu Nov 16 2017 20:51:42 Oops accidently hit save instead of quote on that last one... On Saturday, November 4th NuSkooler muttered... Nu> It won't be a popular opinion to many here I imagine, but I'm very glad Nu> religion as a whole is on a decline in the world. I'd love to see it go. Nu> If you believe in a God(s), so be it. We don't need relgion for that - Nu> that only fosters cult/gang type mentality, etc. I'm of mixed feelings about that statment. On one hand I understand what you're saying, on the otherhand, I don't think that describes ALL relgion. Religion for those involved can be a rewarding and comforting thing, having church and meeting with other religios people who share those beliefs can also be positive for those involved, however it's when you start waving that relgion around and trying to force it upon others, or using it as an excuse to exclude and treat others poorly, that I have a problem. We just had a non-binding postal survey on marraige equality in Australia, many churches supported the government legislating marraige equality because it was a matter of law and who are they to force beliefs on others, this kind of religion I can support. One that is personal, one that on sunday the pastor preaches on topics that can be uplifting for the church goers, yet doesn't infringe upon anyone else. Anyway, interesting dicussion.
