Check out silentprayer.video when you get a chance. I do it pretty much every
morning and evening and it allows me to start the day and finish the day in a
peaceful state. Many times during this prayer I have discovered things or
learned things about myself that I may not have otherwise. It does help to see
things more clearly when your mind is quiet and free of thoughts. 

Even just sitting in a room, completely still and silent, allows God to
communicate with you (and vice versa even!) on a much deeper level. You get to
know the spirit of God on a much deeper level than just "Dear God, heres a
list, Amen". 

The type of knowledge you gain from this is a spiritual knowledge about
yourself. God communicates to us by revealing things about us and causing us to
understand ourselves on a deeper spiritual level.

You also have to be careful not to listen to your thoughts, though. Practical
thoughts are OK, but any thought that brings about an emotion (be it one you
judge as good or bad) or a feeling is of an evil spirit.

I have had similar experiences some of my previous jobs where I would make a
mistake and it was like I sent a distress beacon to my team lead who was often
in another room or another part of the office. Some of the leads were not the
most agreeable, so I would try to suppress it and deal with the problem myself
- some times this didn't work though :|
