The other guys were much more familiar with hispanic legends than me, and
they began to refer to her as "La Llerona," which means "The whiner" in
English.

Her story was that she was washing clothes in the river, not paying attention
to her kids, and they drowned. Her soul can never live in peace, and people
report hearing her saying "ahhh...  ahhhh...." as she roams the region
grieving.

But we didn't hear this woman moaning or anything, and we just referred to her
like "I hope we see la llerona today!" I shared the story with many of the
people who worked near the scene of our sighting, and one guy in particular,
who has been working there for a long time, said that the description of the
woman does not match anyone who has ever been employed by his geological
group, who've occupied that space for decades.
