English property, when you get outside of commute range to London, was impressively inexpensive. We took a trip last summer to Hampshire, and I fell in love with one place in Tisbury. 2br, 2 bath, with a large garden, free standing garage, on the high street, and it included a storefront, for just under 300K pounds. The town had a church build in the 1300s, a wine shop, grocery store, a couple of good looking shops, 2 pubs, an inn, and a 5 minute train ride to a large market town. Friendly people - one pedestrian in town we bumped into offered us a tour of the church and told us the history of it! Being able to retire and walk to a market, coffee shop, pub, is important to aging well, I've thought. And, being in a place where people keep an eye out for each other is priceless. k9> Moving for family is always a good thing! k9> Can you get an NHS card (or maybe you have one) or have some other way k9> to provide the benefits coverages you might need?
