I would think that ddrescue and dd would be sufficient in creating the clone, and reversing the process. https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-repair-and-clone-disk-with- ddrescue I used a similar approach when I needed to move my C: and H: partitioned Windows 250GB HDD to a 1TB SSD. Simply booted the Windows pc into a Linux distro, executed a command that "moved" the C: and H: data over to the new SDD, and used dd to "adjust" some blocks in the C: partition so that it would boot properly.
