There's a movement of younger people rejecting smart phones and moving
back to flip phones, candy bar phones, and other "dumb" phones. It's in
part due to the data mining of apps, and due to wanting to be more in
the moment.

I like the idea of having a battery that lasts a week, but need maps
support and need a full keyboard.

It's going to be a hard adjustment for some, kids don't talk on the
phone any more. I see my kids text someone, then I'll urge them to call
since if it's an urgent issue. It rings, the other end doesn't pick up,
my kids hear the tone and vapor lock. They sort of look at the phone,
hang up, then text.

I've tried explaining to my son (who has decent phone skills) that while
his generation may prefer texting, the people with the jobs and
opportunities are my generation, and we grew up with voicemail greetings
with your name in it. When you leave a message, ask for a call back and
leave your number.

"Why leave a number, it's on their phone?"

"Because we grew up with phones without caller ID, and if you want to
make it easy for someone to reach you, it's what you do..."
