Be clear our system is an analoge of the systems used elsewhere. (I've done it overseas, and it is the same stuff.)

The systems are designed to fast track what the receiving society wants in a new immigrant, and not be so nice to the rest.

On the USA system getting yourself catagorized as a refugee changes the process in your favor.  That really is a slap in the face to the skilled migrant who is following the rules.
