Good one. Is there *any* newsreader that DOES support ansi? In my case, it would need to work in Windows. Is anyone running a BBS that offers a webbased echo viewer that displays ansi-based messages? Otherwise, for the sake of some extra added color, ansi seems to just add extra overhead that just gets in the way of a good read. A few (very few) people in some newsgroups get away with posting multipart messages that incorporate html to manipulate fonts and colours. For the most part, it's tolerable. Sometimes the repeated results get annoying. Maybe the bbs world can produce an html version of an ansi-based message? But, I think most computer users have grown to expect to be able to control how a message looks on their readers/pcs. For now, ansi-based messages seem to be geared for reading directly on a BBS only. .
