Element has been tested out live in the BBS Scene on MeaTLoTioN's Element/Matrix server.  MRC (Multi-Relay Chat) is great for totally public communications but falls far short when compared to Element.  Element offers secure chat (text, voice, and video) and well as the ability to send files, large files even, and their new feature released recently is an encrypted file storage box free to use for anyone using the server.  Think of this as something like a next-level IRC server.  The difference being that you will be using industry standard cryptography that will keep your private things private.  On a side note is that there are fun things about Element that make the experience really good.  Some examples of that are a large selection of emoticons (avatars), and some full screen effects like confetti that can be started with simple actions like: /confetti [name] [statement].

The Element software is based on Matrix code.  Element for Web, iOS, Android, and Desktop are all have open-source code.  This is the all-in-one crypto-communications suite that everyone was yearning for in the 90's.  This is the actualization of that dream.  Secure text, file transfer, video calls, audio calls, and private chat rooms that are invite only.

I'd recommend this software at 10/10.  You are elite if you run this service. Luckily a friend of mine is that elite, meet MeaTLoTioN and his element.erb.pw Element server.  This is where all the people congregate when not using Multi-Relay Chat (MRC).  10/10 w00t!!
