The larger the data contained in a file the easier it is to detect.  For
certain files there is a maximum safe amount of data that can be mixed, any
more than that and it will be very obvious that something is up.  Its also
best practice to make the photograph or audio yourself so that there will be
no "original" to compare the mixed file with.  A simple hash could tell the
difference between the two files.
