Asa reminder the FCC moved from a datarate limitation to a bandwidth used metric for HF data transmissions.

This means that HF data in theory can moved many times faster than allowed before.

The downside is that implimentations can be quite pricy, as the specialized modems are low volume pro-grade units costing several thousand US $.

There is some promise with the HF version of VARA, which is software based running circa US $90ish, though the final throughput acheived is presently less than the PACTOR type modems in difficult conditions.
