Subj : Gene Doping To : All From : warmfuzzy Date : Sat Mar 09 2019 02:48:32 There have been developed retraviruses that can change the DNA in humans to something predetermined. It is now possible to use "gene doping." Basically this would change a person from the inside out, rewiring our genetic code to code for increased strength, endurance, and general dexterity... not to mention coding for increased intelligence and never depleting telomers (the things that cause aging when they are in disrepair). Did the cheating by Russian athletes rub you the wrong way in the recent sports games? Well how about having a player doped up in such a way that the only way to detect it is to do a DNA screen. This is a far more time-consuming and technical process than just detecting performance enhancing drugs. The same technique could be used to create super-soldiers either from birth or through genetic modification after birth. This field will make a lot of money from people who want to "improve" their lot in life for three reasons: 1. Increased Physical Performance 2. Increased Mental Performance 3. Increased Length of Life I can think of many people who would go for that. I, however, am horrified at the potential use and abuse of such technologies as it may permanently infect our gene pool with stuff that should never be there and after having sex and getting kids, those kids may inherit doped genes and permanently pour the bleach in the gene pool. You may not see why this would be such a probem, however changing our genes can result in pandemics that would not normally surface or tainting our genetics in a malevolent way that is irreversable. Gene doping = bad; very bad. Best regards, warmfuzzy P.S. Also, if the retraviruses spread to other people you could have a viral ourbreak that results in mass gene-doping from people that do not want to be doped, but who pick up the retraDNA machines unwillingly, yet are modified anyways... --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A39 2018/04/21 (Linux/64) * Origin: Sp00knet Master Hub [PHATstar] (700:100/0) .
