TempestSDR is more an educational undertaking than a useful tool.

Understanding the priciples is major knowledge.  

These exploits are not new.  Here is one where certain modifications made the data extraction easier.  The IEEE article is more a story telling, you can find much more detail now the issues have largely been declassified.
