Subj : Business Idea: Portable TEMPEST Glass Enclosure To : All From : warmfuzzy Date : Fri May 15 2020 23:25:23 I've had a reoccuring business idea which deals with having TEMPEST glass enclosure that you can slide a computer monitor into, the system would be a very simple Plug'n'Play idea that has a large upper portion with a cavity in it that the LCD/Flatscreen monitor sits in. The bottom of it would also be glass, TEMPEST-resistant glass, that fits into the upper portion. This would be a very inexpensive alternative to the $5 Grand monitors that are only TEMPEST level 1. This could be made from between $50 and $200 and would be modular in the sense that any brand of monitor would fit inside it. For those of you that are unfamiliar with TEMPEST technology it is an emissions security specification that details reducing compromising computer equipment's radiation so that your neighbors can't pick up the emissions and reconstruct what is being displayed on your screen. This was a mahor problem back in the 80's and mid 90's when the normal monitor was CRT (cathode ray tube). I'm not sure how serious of a threat it is today, but its probably not completely gone from the tricks bag of the intelligence community. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A45 2020/02/18 (Linux/64) * Origin: Sp00knet Master Hub [PHATstar] (700:100/0) .
