Subj : Diary of a CEO podcast To : All From : poindexter FORTRAN Date : Thu Aug 07 2025 07:26:26 There's an interesting DOAC podcast featuring Mo Gawdat, author of several books and ex CBO of Google (x). Talks a lot about AI, the subject of an earlier book called "Scary Smart". He laments about the worldwide military industrial complex and the amount of money mankind spends on war. Poverty, poor education, health care and climate change are all fixable problems if we didn't spend trillions on replacing weapons of war. He talks about the consolidation of LLMs, the myth that AI will force people into other jobs (because the other jobs they would move to are incompatible or they themselves will be replaced...) One of his comments was to become a plumber, because human-shaped robots are where the industry wants to go. You could make a plumberbot now, but it wouldn't be anthropomorphic. He suggests you have about a 10 year head start. He sees 10 years of dystopia before things turn around to a world where people don't need to work as a primary focus and can try to improve things. He sees AIs akin to an IQ enhancer. If My IQ is 100 and someone else's is 50, and you add 300 IQ points through the use of AI, the difference isn't material at that point. Part of that turnaround will be when AIs start writing the next AIs. Definitely worth a listen. --- MultiMail/Win v0.52 * Origin: realitycheckBBS.org -- information is power. (700:100/20) .
