Subj : opsec To : All From : debian Date : Mon Nov 20 2023 18:54:41 Before reading this article, I recommend watching "DEF CON 30 - Sam Bent - Tor - Darknet Opsec by a Veteran Darknet Vendor" (https://youtu.be/01oeaBb85Xc?si=pRHIXJ1WLXgJDIX4). This guy discusses some really good opsec that he used as a darknet vendor and some of his techniques can be applied to other forms of opsec. Having a good opsec is critical for different situations you may find yourself in. The opsec will be different depending on the situation and the circumstances. It is a good idea to take some time, sit down, and critically think about a situation you may be facing (or one that you are in - don't take too much time) and think about how you can navigate this situation without attracting the wrong type of attention. You should also study your adversary. Know your enemy and know yourself. Depending on your adversary, you may be able to find enough information on it just through some crafty googling or talking with those who may know. Do this in a way that does not raise suspicion nor gives away your identity. There are methods that I am still learning about as well, but this discussion is critical to formulating contingency plans. Some organizations will post their opsec training online (and in the clear), some googling, or exploring their website, will yield these results. Sometimes you will have to dig, other times it is served to you on a platter. Either way, take what you are given with a grain of salt. How ya gonna do it?
