 AGENCY: The major code-breaking agency for theÛ
Û Û  United States. Established in 1952, NSA's mission is communications
ÛÛ Û  surveillance. It is the largest of US i

nts, the most efficient. It is certainly the least known    Û

 with the "mole" orÛ ÛÛ Û  "penetration agen
t," a person whose loyalty lies with the rivalÛ Û
Û Û  power but joins another cause for duty purposes. Intelligence
Û ÛÛ Û  archives include a self-definition of
 "double agent" by a person who  Û ÛÛ Û  served a
s such: Colonel Stig Wennerstrom of the Swedish air force,    
Û ÛÛ Û  who over a twenty-year period worked for 
Nazi Germany, the USSR, and  Û ÛÛ Û  the United S
tates. In Wennerstrom's confession, he described a double Û Û
Û Û  agent's function: "The one side has an agent whom it deliberately
Û ÛÛ Û  tries to work in as an agent on the o
ther side, of course withoutÛ ÛÛ Û  the other
 side knowing anything about it." And, Wennerstrom added,
