There's commonality in the sense they all act like vertical ascending trackers, and they have similar column layouts visually and such. But each tracker is going to have different abilities depending on the file type outputs and therefore will all behave differently, have their own quirks, hotkeys, tricks to manipulate sound, limitations, etc. If you want to learn Renoise, use Renoise. If you use FT2, you'll learn how to use FT2 and whatever overlaps between the two, but not what doesn't... You can pretty much make the same type of jams you can make on the older trackers, on the new ones, by artificially limiting your samples, effects, and other choices, if you want.
