Thanks! This was a fun read. The first three Castlevania games are my favorites. I managed to beat the first one exactly two times -- once back in the 80s after spending an entire afternoon facing dracula and getting killed -- and then more recently, playing a legal ROM of it on the original Wii. Castlevania II had some serious translation issues, but the puzzles and overall game design made little sense. Still, it's the one I have the most vivid memories of, as one of the gaming magazines of the era printed a walkthrough of it and my buddy and I played it for ages and managed to actually beat it multiple times in search of the various different endings. Part II was frustrating in that the game would slow down dramatically in some of the dungeons/mansions when too much action got on-screen. And falling in water or getting knocked off stairs was always a bitch. But the flame whip? Best weapon ever! Part III is the one I never managed to beat, and I don't recall why. But it had the best atmosphere and music for the time. Being able to morph into different characters was also cool. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A31 (Raspberry Pi) * Origin: Alcoholiday / Est. 1995 / alco.bbs.io (80:774/8) .
