Because you can ;))
And because they have learned very much from doing so.
Actually they came up with a great design that even has a Hypervisor ;)

I am thinking of buying a FPGA devboard ... just to play around.
There are some nice small ones (25-45 USD).

But then again ... you can go big, and buy the Nexys that the Mega65 guys used
....
but 300 EUR is too much for me for playing around a few hours, and then throw
it into the corner :))))
