I am a Linux user, not sure if these programs are available for other OS's
but I use ADT Pro to get disk images to and from apple disks. Yes it requires
the super serial card.  Its very easy to use, well done.
As for an Emulator I use linapple. A look at its configuration file says it
will emulate "old AppleII, right out of the hands of Steve Wozniak and Steve
Jobs", Apple II+, Apple IIe and IIe enhanced. No GS.. bummer.  I run my apps
on linapple and my real Apple IIe and move the disks back and forth.  All
seems to work great.
