Vice had no DCD detection or DTR detection, so what would happen is the BBS would sit there until the caller idle timed out, my 2.0 board which runs in Vice still does that as I use BBS Server and VSPE to get it connected instead of TCPSER which contrary to popular belief does not do file transfers well and I need file transfers for the NISSA Network. The latest Vice incarnations handle DCD and DTR pretty well, as I have a few test systems running at 38.4k and they detect and drop carrier properly. If I could find a true virtual null modem cable that I can connect the pins myself I would be able to disconnect pin 6 (DSR) and use the latest Vice and have carrier protection.. Working on a Linux solution, as I got BBS Server running in Linux for real com ports (or ttySx ports) but have yet to find a cable solution..
