It comes from Fidonet's real-namke requirement and how my system would kill
single-name named emails.  I used to get mail bombs from some nasty people
(who are ironically all dead now) and you did make me think about modifying
that.  I wrote that 24 years ago and it's not really needed now.

I agree, that's poorly written.  I'll remove that by next Friday.
