Earlier than that.  When I got my license in 1997, I was a no-code Tech.

I still don't use any of those modes...I do love Feld Hell, FHPSK105
(narrow-band FH), Olivia (great for weak-station DX), PSK31, and RTTY.

But without a radio and antenna, I sit.
