Subj : Arkansas Section News To : All From : Daryl Stout Date : Tue Jan 31 2023 10:30:38 Hello all: It's not news that we are about to have some frozen precipitation. I'm sure your preparations are complete by now. If not, well, you better get moving. There are some things we can do to help our community without leaving the shack, and I'd like to ask you to think about a few of them. One is check on folks that are older or infirm (let us face it, a lot of us fit squarely in that category), and second, use the mPING app on your phone. It is a free app and the information goes straight to the Weather Service. Since we have been asked to provide situational awareness, this is a perfect way to contribute. Also, while you are stuck inside, it's a perfect time to work on your online ICS and ARRL EMCOMM classes. Let me know if I can help you get started. You haven't heard me on HF lately due to overwhelming powerline noise. 80M is completely covered, and I can't hear anything but the noise. WA5LUY came out and we identified several sources. Entergy, with the ice storm coming, probably won't be around to do anything for me for a while. If you do get out and about, don't fall down and hurt yourself. The last thing any of us want is to be a burden to others. 73, J.M.
