The Tennessee Phone Net is notorious for that.  There's a section at the
beginning for "short timers" going to other nets and it takes 15 minutes
just to get through that!  I haven't checked into that net for a while as
there's a few net controllers who insisted there was something wrong with my
radio and it turns out they just are appliance operators...
