I ran Slack for nearly 20 years.  I switched to Devuan a while back but I do
like how it doesn't fall into dependency hell like Devuan and others do. 
The new Slack 15 is pretty nice.

SlackBuilds is very handy, yes.

To be honest, I prefer FreeBSD over GNU/Linux but FreeBSD isn't quite ready
to be useful for my personal system.
