The main PC I use at home I have VMware Workstation on for my "testing" of various things.  ESXi I use for all my 24x7 systems.  At one time I had many desktops acting as servers (long ago) and ended up saving space, power, etc, by virtualizing all of them.

I know the feeling.  It is nice to have others to help with various projects and support.  I still do the majority of all the high end stuff and likely always will until I retire one day.  Not that I'm complaining, because I'm one of those people that thrives off challenges.
