These days, upgrades in Microsoft terms just means changing where the icons are located, making 3D icons, changing the graphics, moving the menu around and call it a day - then charge more money for the "upgrade".

Very little actual "real upgrades" that provide additional functionality or capabilities.  They just need to keep releasing things to keep money flowing in.
