My BBS is running on an old IBM Thinkpad laptop. The fan started making noise,
so I bought a cheap fan on eBay for it and spent an hour swapping it out.

The cheap fan didn't report back fan speed, for some reason, so I blew out the
old fan and put a drop of 3-in-1 oil on the spindle. I cleaned off the heat
sinks, replaced the thermal paste and put everything back together. The fan is
quiet again and the temp, which was running 78-80c is now down to 55-60c. 

Not bad for a 10 year old laptop that's been running 24/7 for the past 2
years.
