usb 2.0 is black.  usb 3.0 are a specific blue.

so if you buy a usb 3.0 device and it's not blue, something's wrong.
there's also teal usb which is usb 3.1. i saw these a few times

and i guess there's a usb 3.2 that is red.  that's around 2017
then i guess there's yellow that means always on and is for laptops.

i havent upgraded my computer since 2018 because i have not needed to, i'm no hardware expert.
