You won't regret it. I tried extenders and 2 different generations of powerline adapters and ran into niggling issues each time. I had 2 Cat6 runs put in between floors (and I'm glad I had them done professionally!) and have an AP on one floor that also serves as a switch for my homelab, and another router on the other end that's an internet gateway.
