Subj : Heat wave To : SEAN DENNIS From : Rob Mccart Date : Thu Jul 17 2025 09:59:24 SD>This heatwave is terrible. I've been making all of my doctors' appointments >the early morning just so I can try to get home before the heat kicks in... I suppose one thing about 'appointments' is that they are usually in air conditioned buildings.. I was out shopping today and appreciated that since even here in mid-northern Ontario where it's usually a little cooler than further south, it got up to 31c (87f) with the Humidex making it feel like 37c (99f). I suppose a lot of people in the Southern USA would laugh at that, the way we tend to laugh at people who think 20 or 30 degrees below freezing in winter is actually cold.. B) I remember a summer motorcycle trip I took to Florida in my misspent youth and when I came out of a Georgia Hotel at 10 am it was already at 105f. Another guest just leaving noticed my Ontario plates and asked where I was heading and, when I told him mid Florida, he laughed and asked if it wasn't already hot enough here? It's pretty rare to hit 90f where I am. We usually only see 4 or 5 days a year that hot, so I've never owned an air conditioner, other than in my car, but I've been giving a couple of fans a good workout the last few days.. Also in reference to our colder winters, I may comment here but you won't hear me complain about summer heat. I much prefer unusual heat to unusual cold. I just try to limit outdoor activities on the worst of those days in either direction.. B) --- * SLMR Rob * I refuse to grow up...
