I am pretty RM> much out of browser update options that will still run on RM> it and that's starting to cause problems. The newest RM> browser did its final update in late 2023, which was not RM> bad I guess for a system built in 2011. AA>I'm with Win7 max on two systems myself - a laptop at home, and >a desktop at my bookshop. They work great. I don't need to >visit sites willy nilly, and sofar there have been no issues >with my usual suspects (suppliers, b2b systems, etc). AA>I use Firefox on both. I use Opera as my main browser. It has been based on the core engine of Chrome (highly modified) in recent years but at times it was a modified version of Firefox (Mozilla). I think it started out there. I checked versions online and the final Firefox that will run on Windows 7 was released in July of 2023. My final version of Opera was released in October 2023 so we probably have very similar coverage of web pages. Part of my problem is that Opera is very protective, blocking Ads and Trackers, and a lot of web sites can tell this is happening and will refuse to load unless you turn that off. Since my versions of Opera have blocked tens of thousands of these over the years (literally - my phone keeps a count) I figure that especially those who refuse to load if you don't let them track you after you leave their site, I'd just as soon try to find what I was looking for elsewhere. My phone says it has blocked 65,015 Trackers and 26,238 Ads.. That's over a few years though since they don't start that count over at zero when you do an update. AA>Desktop uses FF 115.24 esr 32-bit. I could have stayed with >64-bit, but I find that it has some kind of slow memory leak >that eventually hogs up the cpu and ram. Yes, I don't recall that problem but I figure if the 32 bit version of a program will run on my 64 bit Windows 7 system then it is probably easier on system resources to run that. In theory the 64 bit versions should be faster for some things but nothing seems to be causing me any problems there.. --- * SLMR Rob * Save the whales...
