B) JA>Yeah, I'm speaking mainly of the MacBook Air line. :-) Right.. I think they have always been a little more expensive than the basic PC units but I haven't had an Apple since I first got into computers. Back then, about 1983, we were building Apple II clones because you could build one, with better parts and more memory and such, for about 1/3 the cost of buying a genuine one, and the IBM's were super expensive back then, not really intended for home users. A top end one would cost more than a new small car. RM> I rarely travel far enough to take a computer with me, given all RM> you can do on a Phone these days JA>Well, my laptop goes with me EVERYWHERE - I use it at work, of course, >but also at home (I'm in my recliner now), for my blog/podcast, for >BBS messages, at church for notes and such, etc. Yes, if you use it in a lot of different places that would work out best. I've gotten to where I do the small stuff during the day on my phone and have a time late at night when I start up the Laptop to do the more complex stuff or play games. I much prefer doing a lot of typing on my full sized keyboard to pecking it out on the phone. JA>I'm setting up a Linux workstation for the bench, though, and >will have a full keybaord & monitor there. :-) Yes, I've been tempted to try Linux seriously a few times but never quite got involved enough to learn it properly. I've run Puppy Linux on a couple of systems so I have a limited idea of how well it can work but it also doesn't take long to see you have a lot to learn to get everything you're used to doing working with it.. JA>Well I had some "PC's" dumped in my lap and thought I could do >something with them, and wanted to learn a little deeper, so... :-) Yes, that was a temptation for me too. I've had some older machines given to me that would no longer run up to date Windows software and I figured I'd have better luck getting more up to date software using Linux. --- * SLMR Rob * Do Cheshire cats drink evaporated milk? * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (618:250/1) .
