I worked in retail in the late 1980s (Target).  Seems like we took a break
between most holidays, although we did always seem to start the mix of
Thanksgiving and Christmas right after Halloween stuff was put away.

OTOH, Valentines is just over a month away so I am guessing we'd have been
putting stuff out for it soonish after Christmas return season was over.
