For me, peak tech was a Nokia 8260 - dinky little phone.Black and white display, single earbud, Battery lasted around a week.

It was a TDMA phone, with fallback to analog. I swore by that thing for years. Then, in a series of odd developments, Pacific Bell Wireless became Airtouch, then bought AT&T Wireless, shut down the actual AT&T Wireless network, renamed their GSM network AT&T Wireless, and replaced a rock-solid TDMA/Analog network with a crappy GSM network.
