I had as friend who went to Purdue out of high school. Drove his 1977 
corvette there, and he complained that the tires never caught all winter - 
they spun from October until April!

Amazing to look back, that car came out in the middle of the "Malaise era" 
in Detroit and had something like 210 horsepower. I had a Camry with close 
to 200 with 2 less cylinders and 2 more doors.

That poor car -- it always ran like crap, and my friend was dumbfounded, 
always getting tuneups, swapping plug wires, new ignition, etc.

He took it to a new mechanic who called him aside when he went to pick it 
up. He showed him the plugs he'd taken out - 6 NGK aftermarket plugs and 2 
AC Delco OEM plugs. His mechanic "friend" never bothered replacing the back 
two plugs!

It ran great after that.
