My mom uses Firefox and Thunderbird as her primary programs.  When I explained 
to her I could easily move her FF/TB profiles over to Linux, she commented 
that "there's no reason for me to use Windows anymore".  She also liked the 
fact that the older but still very reliable HP color laser printer she paid 
about $800 for would work just fine under Linux and not break all the time 
like under Windows (I double-checked HPLIP support before I said anything; I 
have to install the HPLIP binary blob but that's a non-issue).

Calibre is a great program.  I've used it myself.
