I thought that the best they could do with with tires is shred  
them and use that material for the basis of flowerbeds,  
walkpaths, playgrounds, etc.. ..and calling *that* "recycling".

I've seen tires tires used for the basis of homes or retaining  
walls (tires filled with concrete or other compacted material).
