Years ago when we still had all the kids living here (all 6 of them) and pre-LED lights, I had power bills over $500/month - especially in the summer.  

With just myself, wife, and our son, all the tech stuff, and regular odds and ends we average in the upper $300 range month/US at the moment.  

I do have a 5 ton HVAC system and 120k BTU natural gas furnace which is the largest single system you can have in a home.
