That seems like setting up a single point of failure for the network but I am

The price on numeric paging went up a lot and for $1 more you can get
alphanumeric paging.  Somewhere I have an almost-new 
pager I bought from them that can be activated immediately.

Exactly.  That's why I know people won't bother me.

I really don't want to carry a cell phone but since you can't find payphones
like you used to, I'm kinda forced to do so.
