I used to have a couple of small ceramic trees. But, I got so burned out on the holidays over 20 years ago, for all the commercialism. I do not go to Christmas parties, cantatas, etc., and don't even put up decorations. My 3 favorite holidays are the ones with Peanuts: 1) Halloween, where Linus suckers Sally into the Pumpkin Patch, and Snoopy gets into a fight with the Red Baron. They were amazed that the young girl who voiced Sally, as she grabbed Linus by the neck, screamed "You owe me restitution", that she didn't mess up the word. 2) Thanksgiving, where Snoopy gets in a fight with the lawn furniture, in setting up the table for the "meal" of popcorn, jelly beans, etc. Peppermint Patty felt she got ripped off, as the "traditional food" wasn't there (they got to graze on that later), but she had "invited herself". 3) Christmas, where Linus recites the passage from the Biblical passage of Luke, Chapter 2. As she speaks the words of The Angel Of The Lord, he sets his security blanket down. I understand that when the others complained to Charles Schulz (Peanut's author) about the Christmas sequence, Schulz replied "If we don't do it, who will??". SD> This time, though, instead of getting the standard 6' arms, I'm going SD> to get the 10' arms for better efficiency and more bandwidth on 40 SD> meters. I -really- miss being on HF. The only time I'm on the air now is for nets, or sked requests. The last time I worked HF was 20 meter HF railroad mobile on the Arkansas And Missouri Railroad during Memorial Day Weekend 10 years ago. If you search on YouTube for Arkansas And Missouri Railroad Memorial Day Troop Train, you get to see me operating...even with train whistles in the background. SD> Of course, there's two 150' tall trees across the parking lot taunting SD> me about putting up a G5RV Junior in between them. More like 2 big lightning rods. Daryl ....
