I would bet those people who have small-as-fist shelf speakers  
don't play them very much anyway.  So, they have no reason to  
spend the kind of dollars for a better pair.

I took my tower Advent pair apart and mailed the woofers to a  
domestic repair center that re-foamed them for me.  They sound  
pretty good now.

I'm still debating getting a good subwoofer.  But my amp (which  
is just a receiver) doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer output.

Meanwhile the Klipsch Heresy IV are tempting!
