It might be documented somewhere. That's certainly true in my neck of the woods. In AU, the rule of the yellow light is that you must stop if it is safe to do so. So if you are travelling at 100k/h, you need more distance to stop safely, vs travelling at 40k/h. So the traffic light needs to last longer on yellow for 100k/h vs 40k/h. If it doesnt last long enough, resulting in you travelling through the intersection on a red light and get a ticket, if you can demonstrate that the yellow light doesnt last long enough for you travelling at the published speed to stop safely in time, you dont pay the ticket. I know folks that have got out of tickets that way... ....oEoN ....
