I used to work at a company that sold & serviced phone systems.  They had a 
"nortel guy" to service existing installs but we mainly sold Toshiba & 
Panasonic systems.  The company let people "trade in" their old systems for 
credit towards a new one.  Those traded in systems became parts for some of 
the ancient systems still in use.

That company is no longer in business, but I'm sure that stockroom full of 
parts is still out there somewhere.
