With a pager, I'd call them back, explain the situation and set expectations before things started. That relied on pay phones being everywhere - and me being young enough not to be freaked out by the hygenic aspects of pay phones. :) I'd thought about going to a feature phone to see what it's like, revisit speaking to people instead of texting/emailing, but the killer app for me is maps. I'd need to go back to a Thomas' Guide, those spiral-bound map books I used to keep in the car. ....
