I almost missed that part.  So, it's not so quick if you have to  
cook the meat before all that follows.  ;)  However, I can see  
this to be lazyman's stew using left-over roast or something.

My parents would often turn all leftovers into some kind of  
soup.

 SD>   and microwave on high (100%) to boiling, 10 to 12
 SD>   minutes; stir.  Cover and let stand 5 minutes and

And onion soup mix is the key that provides the majority of  
flavor.  But the best soups will always be the ones that have  
had a chance to stew and simmer so that all the "natural"  
flavours would mix.
