I miss those things as well. We had a group down in South Texas called
VCATS (Valley Computer and Telecommunication Society) and we met once a
month at some food establishment somewhere. And we'd end up getting
kicked out of the place way after closing time. It is probably the only
crowd situation I have ever been in where I felt comfortable around a
group of people.
