NIRVANAnet used to have gettogethers around the local BBSes - Berkeley, San 
Francisco, San Jose, and Walnut Creek. There was a diner in Oakland that had 
phones where you could call from table to table, a very 60s vibe.

I thought having that many phreaks in one place with phones at the table 
might have been dangerous, but I think we all carded from there instead of 
blowing up their LD bill.  :)

I lived next door to a pub that had Guinness on tap, wine, coffee and 
pipes/cigars, and had a neat little sitting room in the back with couches, 
chairs and a patio. That was our other go-to venue. They closed at 11, but 
we had an abundance of divey bars in the area to carry on further beverage 
science.
